Government gives 1 day extension to file GST 3B due to technical glitch

Due to some technical glitches in the GST portal, taxpayers have got an extra day to file their monthly Goods and Services Tax Return (GSTR-3B). The Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) has given this information.

CBIC informed that the deadline for filing GSTR-3B return for September 2022 was October 20, 2022, which has been extended to October 21, 2022. This means that today i.e. on 21st October till 12 midnight, you can file GSTR-3B return. Every time the businessmen have to file the transaction details of the previous month by 20th of the next month without any penalty.

A government official said that after several taxpayers raised the issue, the decision has been taken to extend the deadline by one day. The problem with the portal was a genuine concern which has also been acknowledged by the Goods and Services Tax Network. Earlier, IT company Infosys, which made the portal, had said on Thursday that the technical team is working to resolve the issue.

Tax experts said the technical problem in the portal came suddenly. However, some people say that the government has given information about the extension of one day on Friday afternoon.
