Halloween celebrations turn into mourning as stampede breaks out in Seoul

An unfortunate accident happened in Seoul, the capital of South Korea. On Saturday, 29 October 2022, a stampede broke out among the people who came to celebrate the Halloween festival. The noise of the celebration turned into mournful screams. People started running after with many getting trampled. Those who could not run were out of breath. 151 people reportedly died in this accident, including 19 foreign nationals, while treatment of hundreds of injured is going on.

On Saturday evening, these people gathered at the famous night spot in Itaewon area of ​​Seoul to celebrate No Mask Halloween. This was the first Halloween festival after the Covid waves, so there was a lot of crowd. So many people gathered on the narrow road that the road itself was blocked. People were running here and there from both the sides.

Suddenly a stampede broke out here at around 10:20 pm. A crowd of thousands was trampling on hundreds of people. By the time the medical staff along with the rescue team, fire fighters, local police and ambulances reached here more than 151 people were lying on the ground. President Yoon Suk-yeol has engaged disaster management on a large scale in the rescue. President Yoon Suk-yeol has also declared national mourning. The treatment of the people admitted in the hospital is going on. Sources claim that the death toll may increase.
