Security alert triggered after ‘bomb threat’ on Iranian plane over Indian airspace

Security services were on their toes since the news of a bomb threat on a plane going from Iran to China was received. This plane was moving towards the airspace of Delhi, when there was a bomb alert from the airlines. Permission was sought to land the aircraft immediately in Delhi. Delhi ATC asked them to land at Jaipur airport. Meanwhile, fighter aircraft of the Indian Air Force were stationed behind it.

The Iranian plane however did not stop in Delhi. When it was denied permission to land in Delhi, the pilot took it  towards Chinese airspace. Security agencies are monitoring the aircraft. Sources in Delhi ATC said that the plane was going from Tehran to Guangzhou in China.

Mahan Air had contacted Delhi Airport ATC regarding the threat information. At that time, the airline had advised the flight crew to make an immediate landing in Delhi. On this, Delhi ATC suggested the plane to go to Jaipur, but the pilot of the plane refused and left Indian airspace.

Not allowed to land in Delhi

Meanwhile, Indian security agencies became alert as soon as the information about a possible bomb in the plane was received. Immediately the Indian Air Force was alerted. On this, two Sukhoi aircraft from Punjab and Jodhpur airbases were placed behind the Iranian aircraft. It has not been confirmed that there was a bomb on the plane. Security agencies are monitoring the matter.
