Cabinet gives in principle approval to shift Uttarakhand High Court from Nainital

The Pushkar Singh Dhami government of Uttarakhand has decided to shift another institute from the mountains to the plains. Giving in-principle approval to the Nainital High Court, the cabinet decided to shift the High Court to Haldwani.

In the opinion poll conducted through the website conducted by the High Court, about 80 percent of the suggestions were in favor of shifting the High Court to Haldwani.

With the formation of the state, on November 9, 2000, the High Court was established at Nainital. The operation of the High Court was started in the old Secretariat building established during the British Raj. This heritage building was constructed in 1900 AD. Initially five court rooms were constructed, later more court rooms were added.
