Weather change in Uttarakhand; rain from mountains to plains

After the scorching heat in Uttarakhand for the past several days, the weather suddenly changed again today. It has been raining heavily from the mountains to the plains since early morning. At the same time, light hailstorm also occurred at many places. A drop in temperature has also been recorded due to strong winds. This provided relief to people from the heat of May-June which was prevalent in March itself.

At the same time, in the capital Dehradun, dark clouds covered the sky with lightning and strong gusts of wind in the morning itself. Snowfall also occurred in Gangotri Dham. Light hail also occurred in Mussoorie. The rains helped bringing down the mercury in Uttarkashi. Heavy rain along with thunderstorm started in Pachhwadun area of Vikasnagar. Trees fell at many places in the area amid the rain. Even in the markets, the boards of the shops have been uprooted and have come on the road. There was power outage in some areas in morning due to storm and rain.
