Shraddha murder case: Delhi court sends accused to 5 day police custody

Aftab Poonawala, accused in the Shraddha murder case, appeared in the Delhi court on Thursday (November 17) evening through video conferencing. In view of the security and sensitivity of the case, the application for presenting the accused Aftab Poonawalla was approved through video conferencing. The court has extended the police remand of Aftab by 5 days. The police had asked for Aftab’s remand for 10 days.

Hearing has also been held on the application of Delhi Police for Aftab’s narco test. The court has given permission for Aftab’s narco test.

Aftab Poonawala is the prime accused for murder of his live-in partner Shraddha Walker in May this year. This matter has now been revealed. As per reports, Aftab had cut Shraddha Walkar’s deceased body into 35 pieces and kept them inside the refrigerator in the house and used to go to Mehrauli forest every night to throw them.

According to media reports, Aftab Poonawalla and Shraddha Walkar met on the dating app Bumble. Both worked in a call center in Mumbai. Walker’s parents had objections to their relationship, after which the couple shifted from Mumbai to Delhi. In the month of May, there were heated arguments between the two about marriage. After which Aftab is said to have strangled Shraddha to death. The girl’s father has demanded capital punishment for the accused.
