Student drowns in Ganga in Haridwar

In an unfortunate accident, an IIT student who hailed from Rajasthan and had come to Haridwar in connection with a project drowned while taking a dip in the Ganges near Chandighat. The SDRF team recovered the body of the student from the Ganges after a lot of effort.

A video of the accident that happened on Sunday is going viral on social media. In which the student is seen drowning in the Ganges. Another student is also seen going in the water to help, but before that, the deceased student was seen caught in the strong flow of the river.

District Disaster Management Officer said that with the help of SDRF, water police and local divers, the body of the youth has been recovered and sent to the mortuary in the district hospital.

As per reports, the had come to Haridwar with some of his friends. He was staying in an ashram. On Sunday morning, he along with his companions reached Namami Gange Ghat to take a dip when the unfortunate incident took place.
