Heavy rains in Delhi-NCR; Chances of drizzle till May 5, hailstorm alert

The rains that started in Delhi NCR from Saturday night continued on Sunday as well. The hide and seek of clouds continued since Sunday morning. After noon the weather changed and it started raining. Till last week, the heat in Delhi-NCR had started troubling people. But now an alert has been issued for rain and strong wind till May 5. On the other hand, there is an orange alert for rain in Himachal and Uttarakhand. It rained in Delhi-NCR late last night as well, due to which the weather increased.

According to the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance is becoming active from May 1. For this reason, there is a possibility of heavy rain and snowfall in the western Himalayan region from May 1 to May 3. While light to moderate rains are likely over the plains of North India. There is an alert of hailstorm in western UP and Delhi as well.

According to the IMD website, due to rain on Saturday night, the maximum temperature in Delhi was expected to be 30 degrees below normal and the minimum temperature was expected to be 23 degrees Celsius below normal. At the same time, there were chances of rain along with thunder.

Weather became pleasant in Delhi-NCR from Friday

On Friday, rain started in some areas of Delhi-NCR, due to which the weather remained pleasant. For this reason, till Saturday, the maximum temperature was recorded six degrees below normal at 33.1 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature was two degrees below normal at 22.2 degrees Celsius. Generally, the temperature remains above 40 degrees during this time period.
Weather can remain like this till May 5
Dr. Kuldeep Srivastava, Deputy Director General of the Meteorological Department, had expressed the possibility that the weather would remain almost like this till May 5. During this, an orange alert was issued for heavy rains in Himachal and Uttarakhand. There is also a possibility of hailstorm. If a new Western Disturbance comes again and its effect remains, then there will be respite from the heat.
