ISRO launches Singapore’s two satellites TeLEOS-2 and Lumilite-4

Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully launched two Singapore satellites TeLEOS-2 and Lumilite-4 on Saturday afternoon by PSLV-C55 rocket. These satellites were placed in low earth orbit from the Satish Dhawan Space Center in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

This mission has been named TeLEOS-2 mission. With this launch, the total number of foreign satellites sent into orbit has increased to 424.

What is POEM?

The full form of POEM is PSLV Orbital Experimental Module. PSLV is a four stage rocket. Its three stages fall into the ocean. The last i.e. the fourth stage, which is also called PS4, after the satellite is delivered to its orbit, the garbage of space remains. Now POEM will be used to experiment on top of this. This is being done for the fourth time.

What is Lumilite-4?

It has been built in partnership with the Infocomm Research Institute of Singapore and the Satellite Technology and Research Center of the National University of Singapore. It aims to enhance Singapore’s e-navigation maritime safety and benefit the global shipping community. It is of 16 kg.

What is TeLEOS-2?

It is a tele communication satellite. The Singapore government has prepared it with the help of engineering students there. It weighs 741 kg. It will give information related to disaster management.
