Uttarakhand weather update: Snow spell continues in the mountains

The weather pattern has changed in Uttarakhand. From the mountains to the plains, the effect to changed weather can be seen. There is a sequence of light snowfall on the peaks and rain spell in the lower areas.

According to the Meteorological Department, there is a possibility of hailstorm and showers in the mountains for the next few days, while there is a possibility of thunderstorm in the plains. A yellow alert has been issued for the next three days and an orange alert on May 2. Clouds continued to hover throughout the day in most areas including Doon on Friday. There was also light drizzle at some places.

Light snowfall on the peaks on Friday

The weather kept changing in Chardham on Friday. Light snowfall has been reported in the peaks. Due to the constantly changing weather patterns, the temperature in most areas of the state also remained two to four degrees Celsius lower than normal. Chill is being felt in the mountains in the morning and evening.

The weather will be like this in the state for the next three days

According to Bikram Singh, director of the Meteorological Centre, there is a possibility of light rain and snowfall in the hilly districts along with thunderstorms at some places in the state for the next three days. Whereas, gusty winds with a speed of 30 to 40 kilometers per hour are expected in the plains. After this, on May 2, there is a warning of a thunderstorm at a speed of upto 70 kilometers per hour.
