First batch of Russian nuclear weapons reach Belarus

More than a year has passed since the war between Russia and Ukraine, but now it seems that Russian President Vladimir Putin is in a mood to end the war soon. President Vladimir Putin said on Friday that Russia’s first nuclear weapon has reached Belarus amid threats from the US and its allies amid war with Ukraine. Belarus shares a border with Ukraine, so Putin’s move threatens Ukraine with a potential nuclear attack. Putin announced the deployment of nuclear weapons in Belarus on 25 March.

Russian President Vladimir Putin has deployed Russia’s first nuclear weapon in Belarus just three months after his announcement. This was announced by Putin on 25 March. Putin said on Friday that Russia has given Belarus its first tactical nuclear weapon after tensions with the US and its allies escalated over the war with Ukraine.

“The first nuclear weapon has been delivered to the territory of Belarus. But only the first,” Vladimir Putin said at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum on Friday. “This is the first part. But by the end of the summer or by the end of the year, we will add more nuclear weapons.”

Earlier, Vladimir Putin announced in March that Russia would deploy strategic nuclear weapons on the territory of its allies. He insisted that Russia is meeting its non-proliferation obligations by maintaining arms control, although it trains Belarusian soldiers on “the storage and use of strategic special munitions”.

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko suggested in an interview aired on Wednesday that the weapons had already arrived in his country, although Putin had previously said deliveries would only begin next month. When asked about the possible use of nuclear weapons at the forum, President Putin said that this would only happen if there was a threat to the existence of the Russian state. He said he hasn’t seen any such requirement yet.
