Tata Motors records 66% growth in EV sales

Tata Motors has released its sales report for the month of May. In this report, the company has stated that in May 2023, there has been a growth of 66% on an annual basis in electric vehicle sales of domestic and international business in its passenger wheels segment. In the month of May, the company sold 5,805 units of EV Passenger vehicles. Whereas in the same month last year, the company had sold 3,505 units of EV Vehicles.

Tata Motors’ total sales in May 2023 stood at 73,448 units as against 74,755 units in the same month a year ago. According to the company statement, total sales of passenger wheels in May increased by 6% to 45,984 units as against 43,392 units a year ago.

11% growth in heavy commercial vehicle sales

The company said this also includes sales of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility. According to the statement, the sales of heavy commercial vehicle trucks increased by 11% to 8,160 units in May this year from 7,343 units in May 2022.

Decline in sales of intermediate light medium commercial vehicles

Intermediate light medium commercial vehicle sales declined 38% to 3,450 units in May as against 5,540 units in the year-ago period. Whereas in May 2022, sales of passenger carriers increased by 7% to 3,874 units as compared to 3,682 units.

Domestic sales of commercial vehicles declined by 12% to 27,570 units as against 31,414 units in May last year. While international sales of CV increased by 1% to 1,419 units. International sales of commercial vehicles in May 2022 stood at 1,404 units.
