Schools to remain closed in Nainital on July 7 due to heavy rains forecast, DM issued orders

Schools in Nainital will remain closed tomorrow due to heavy rains in the state. The DM has issued orders in this regard. The state is receiving plenty of rains from the mountains to the plains. The fierce form of rivers and drains is visible, while the roads have been destroyed in many places. Traffic came to a standstill due to a landslide on Bhowali Almora National Highway with stones and boulders coming on the road.

Due to heavy rains, the Shipra river was in spate and water entered the residential area. In view of the continuous deteriorating weather and rain, Nainital DM Vandana Singh has declared a one-day holiday in all the schools  on July 7.

Heavy rains continued in Haldwani from early morning till afternoon on Thursday. This resulted in water-logging at many places. In such a situation, school children and people going to office had to face trouble. In the last 24 hours, 28 mm of rain was recorded in Haldwani.

In the last 24 hours, maximum rainfall of 60.3 mm was recorded in Mukteshwar and 60 mm in Dhari. Whereas, 54 mm of rain was recorded in Nainital, 28 mm in Haldwani, 41 mm in Betalghat, 25 in Kaladhungi and 13 mm in Ramnagar.
