ICC ODI World Cup 2023: Indian squad for the tournament announed

India will host the ODI World Cup this year. The deadline of September 5 was given for the announcement of the team and following this, the Board of Control for Cricket in India and the selectors have announced the 15-member squad. However, changes can be made in this team till 27 September. Rohit Sharma will lead the side with Hardik Pandya being his deputy.

Rohit and Shubman Gill will play the role of openers in the Indian team. Ishan Kishan will be the backup opener. However, he may also get a chance in the middle order. Whereas, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul will take charge of the Indian team in the middle order. Suryakumar Yadav is also included in the team. He may get a chance if someone gets injured. India has two options for wicketkeeper. The responsibility for this will be on Rahul and Ishan. Four players have been included in the team as all-rounders. These include Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel and Shardul Thakur.

Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj will lead the fast bowling department, while the responsibility of the spin department will be with Jadeja and Akshar apart from Kuldeep Yadav. India will start its World Cup campaign against Australia. This match will be played on October 8 at Chepauk Stadium, Chennai.

At the same time, the most anticipated match between India and Pakistan will be played in Ahmedabad on 14th October. Like 2019, this time also the ODI World Cup will be played in round robin format. All 10 teams will face each other. The top four teams will advance to the semi-finals. The final will be played in Ahmedabad on 19 November
