ICC World Cup 2023: Kohli, Rahul guide India to victory against Aus
Team India won their opening game of the ICC ODI World Cup 2023. Batting first the Aussies reached 110 for the loss of two wickets before the Indian spinners lead by Ravindra Jadeja showcased their magic to restrict the 5 time champions to 199 runs. For India Jadeja picked up 3 wickets, while Kuldeep Yadav and Jasprit Bumrah picked up 2 wicket a piece. Mohammed Siraj, Hardik Pandya and R Ashwin picked up a wicket each. Steven Smith with 46 runs was the top scorer for the Aussies.
The Indian run chase got off to the worst possible start with skipper Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan and Shreyas Iyer all getting out for 0. With 3 wickets down and just 2 runs on the board Virat Kohli and KL Rahul stiched together a match winning partnership of 165 runs to take India to the brink of victory. Kohli who earlier got a reprieve on 12 finally got out after scoring 85 runs. KL Rahul remained unbeaten on 97 runs in India’s 6 wicket win over Australia. The men in blue next face Afghanistan in Delhi on October 11.
