Delhi pollution: Primary schools to be closed till 10th November

In view of the persistent air pollution in Delhi, primary schools have been ordered to remain closed till November 10. Delhi’s Education Minister Atishi Marlena said on X that since the level of pollution continues to remain high. Therefore, primary schools in Delhi will remain closed till November 10. Schools are being given the option to shift to online classes for classes 6 to 12. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the Air Quality Index (AQI) in Delhi remains in the ‘severe’ category. Delhi’s AQI was recorded at 468.

AQI remains in the serious category at almost all the centres. Due to this, construction work in Delhi has been stopped till further orders. People have been advised not to leave their homes unnecessarily. People who work outside have been suggested to use masks. To reduce pollution in Delhi, water is being sprayed at many places including around the NDMC Civic Centre. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPBC), AQI 410 was recorded in the severe category in Sector 1 of Noida.

 

Continuous burning of stubble is also affecting the AQI of the cities of Punjab. Bathinda’s AQI was 385, Ludhiana’s 301, Jalandhar’s 291, Amritsar’s 264 and Patiala’s AQI was 251. According to the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB), the air quality index (AQI) in Ambala, Haryana remains at 236 ‘poor’ category.
