Over 50 percent rise in corona cases globally says WHO

Corona cases across the country have reached above 4.50 crore. According to the Health Ministry, 752 new cases have been registered in the last 24 hours. 325 people have recovered, while 4 people have died due to infection. The number of active cases in the country is 3,420. A day ago this figure was 2,998.

According to the Health Ministry, Kerala has the highest number of 565 cases among the states. 2 people have died. Of these, 297 have recovered, while 266 people are undergoing treatment. In terms of active cases, Karnataka is second after Kerala with 70 cases. Karnataka and Rajasthan have recorded 1 death each.

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), corona cases worldwide have increased by 52% in the last one month. Between November 19 and December 17, 8,50,000 cases have been reported and 3 thousand deaths have occurred. However, the death rate has decreased by 8% during this one month.

JN.1 variant spread in 41 countries

According to the World Health Organization (WHO), the new JN.1 variant of Corona has so far spread in 41 countries. Cases of JN.1 are highest in France, America, Britain, Singapore, Canada and Sweden. Till December 22, 23 cases of the new variant have been found in India. According to official sources, all the cases are of mild symptoms.

WHO has included JN.1 in the ‘Variant of Interest’. WHO said that the analysis so far says that the existing vaccine is completely effective on the JN.1 variant. There is not much danger to people from this.

However, WHO has issued an advisory as a precaution. In this, people have been advised to wear masks in crowded, closed or areas with polluted air. Besides, it has also been asked to maintain necessary distance.
