CM Dhami inaugurates 5-day state level youth festival

Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami inaugurated the 5-day state level youth festival at Multipurpose Sports Hall Parade Ground, Dehradun on Friday, January 5. On this occasion, the Chief Minister announced the formation of Vivekananda Youth Skill Development Cell for the skill development of youth in the development block offices of the state and providing necessary resources for the effective use of Yuvak Mangal Dal/Mahila Mangal Dal.

The Chief Minister said that this year the theme of the Youth Mahotsav has been kept as ‘Youth As Job Creators’, which also suits the youth of the state, because our youth are now becoming employment providers as well as employment seekers. He said that the youth of Devbhoomi are not only talented and capable but also hardworking. Young talents from the block level have also got opportunities to participate in this state level youth festival, due to which the talents from rural areas have got special benefit. This will provide opportunities to the talents of our state to move forward at the grassroots level.

The Chief Minister said that ‘our objective is to provide maximum opportunities for self-employment along with employment to the youth of the state. For which we are continuously working. Along with this, we are also encouraging sports culture in the state. For this, while on one hand a new sports policy has been brought, on the other hand, sports quota in jobs has also been re-introduced. Apart from this, at present “Mukhyamantri Udiyaman Khiladi Yojana” is being implemented. Under this, a sports scholarship of Rs 1500 per month is being given to budding players of 08 to 14 years of age.’

The CM further said that so far more than 3900 budding players have been given sports scholarships in the state. To encourage sports talent, the state government is also giving direct government jobs to players who win medals at national and international levels. He said that the upcoming 38th National Games to be held in the state will prove to be a milestone in the development of sports talents of Uttarakhand. Work has been started on the development of various infrastructure facilities for organizing the 38th National Games. Under this, a National Sports Secretariat has been formed, so that these games can be conducted better.

The Chief Minister said that the future of the country and the state depends on the power of our youth, youth are the real strength of India. India is a young country. Today the world looks at India with hope and trust. The people and mind of India are not only young but their capabilities and dreams, their thinking and their consciousness are also young. There is newness even in the antiquity of India. If the youth have the capacity for labor then there is also clarity about the future, hence whatever India says today, the world considers it as the voice of tomorrow.

The Chief Minister said that the artists who are successful in this program will represent Uttarakhand in the National Youth Festival starting this month in Maharashtra. He expressed confidence that all these talented artists of ours will showcase the rich cultural heritage of Devbhoomi Uttarakhand in Maharashtra and bring glory to the state at the national level. He also encouraged the cultural workers participating in the Youth Mahotsav by inspecting the photo gallery and various stalls at the Youth Mahotsav venue.

Sports and Youth Welfare Minister Smt. Rekha Arya said that on the occasion of Youth Festival, stalls of start-ups, youth groups, self-help groups, handicrafts, textiles and agro products etc. have been set up in the sports complex of the Parade Ground. Besides, food festival stalls based on local traditional and fusion food will also be set up. Apart from this, along with the presentation of folk singers, there will be discussions with the youth by various experts on the topic of Youth as Job Creators on different days.
