India defeat South Africa in second test; draw series 1-1

Team India registered a spectacular victory in the second test match between India and South Africa. With this, Team India created history on the grounds of Cape Town after 30 years. The Indian team has registered its first victory in Tests on the grounds of Cape Town in 30 years. With victory, India ended the series at 1-1. Mohammad Siraj and Jasprit Bumrah bowled amazingly in the match. India had a target of 79 runs to win, which the team easily achieved on the basis of its aggressive start.

India defeated host South Africa in just 2 days and achieved a 1-1 draw in the two-match series. After winning the toss, Dean Elgar decided to bat first. Mohammad Siraj took 6 wickets for just 15 runs and the entire team was limited to the score of 55 runs. The performance of Team India’s batsmen in the first innings was also not good. The entire team together could score only 153 runs. Apart from Rohit Sharma, Shubman Gill and Virat Kohli, no batsman could open the account. Infact, the team made a dubious record as it folded from 153-4 to 153 all out i.e 6 wickets fell without a run being scored.

In the second innings, Jasprit Bumrah wreaked havoc on South Africa and ended the team’s hopes of a big score by taking 6 wickets. At one end, experienced opener Aiden Markram stood firm and played a brilliant century. Even after this innings, South Africa was able to set a target of 79 runs for India. Apart from him, no other player could play a big innings for South Africa. Jasprit Bumrah took the wickets of Tristan Stubbs, David Bedingham, Kyle Verreynne, Marco Jansen and Keshav Maharaj. Apart from Bumrah, Mukesh Kumar dismissed Tony De Zorzi and Dean Elgar.

Markram’s century in vain

South African batsman Aiden Markram scored a brilliant century in the second innings of the Cape Town Test. Markram completed his 7th Test century in 99 balls. Aiden Markram has become the sixth South African batsman to score the fastest century in Tests. Earlier, AB de Villiers had scored a century against India in 75 balls in Centurion in 2020.
