India defeats Afghanistan in second super over; wins T20I series 3-0

India has made a clean sweep of Afghanistan before the T20 World Cup. Team India won the last T-20 match in the second super over. In Bengaluru, the Indian team won the toss and batted first and scored 212 runs for 4 wickets in 20 overs. Captain Rohit Sharma played an unbeaten inning of 121 runs. He was ably supported by Rinku Singh who played a vital unbeaten 69 run innings. The duo rescued India from a precarious 22-4 to 212-4 in 20 ovvers. In reply, Afghanistan also scored 212 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.

In the first super over, the Afghan team had given India a target of 17 runs to win and the Indian team scored 16 runs. In such a situation, the first super over ended in a draw. The winner was finally decided in the second super over. In this, India gave a target of 11 runs to the visiting team, but the Afghan team lost two wickets in scoring one run. In this way India won in a thrilling match.

With this victory, India won the 3-match T20 series 3-0. This was India’s last T20I series before the T20 World Cup 2024.

In the third T20 International played at M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore, India won the toss and decided to bat first and scored 212 runs for 4 wickets on the board in 20 overs. For the team, captain Rohit Sharma played the biggest inning of 121* runs in 69 balls, which included 11 fours and 8 sixes. Apart from this, Rinku Singh scored 69* runs in 39 balls by hitting 2 fours and 6 sixes. During this period, Farid Ahmed took maximum three wickets for Afghanistan.

Chasing the target, Afghanistan tied the match by scoring 212 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Gulbadin Naib played the biggest inning of 55* runs for the Afghan team, which included 4 fours and 4 sixes. Apart from this, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, who came as opening pair, scored 50 runs each. Meanwhile, Washington Sundar took maximum 3 wickets for India.

First super over ends in tie

After the scores were level, both the teams took the field for a super over to decide the result of the match. Batting first, Afghanistan put 16 runs on the board for 1 wicket. Mukesh Kumar bowled the first super over for India. Team India, which came to chase the target of 17 runs, could only score 16 runs and the Super also ended in a tie. During this, Azmatullah bowled the over for Afghanistan. India needed 2 runs on the last ball to win, but Yashasvi Jaiswal, who was on strike, could score only 1 run.

Team India won in the second super over

Then in the second super, Team India, who came to bat first, got all out (2 wickets) and put 11 runs on the board, after which for a moment it seemed that India would lose the match, but Ravi Bishnoi did not let this happen.

Chasing the target, Bishnoi got Afghanistan all out by taking 2 wickets in just 3 balls. Chasing the target of 12 runs, Afghanistan could score only 1 run.
