Govt orders high-level probe in Bageshwar infant death

On July 10, one and a half year old died due to lack of treatment in Bageshwar District Hospital. In view of the seriousness of the matter, the Health Department had constituted a three-member investigation committee under the chairmanship of Chief Medical Officer Bageshwar. The investigation committee has submitted the investigation report to the government. But the government is not satisfied with the general investigation report. Due to which Health Secretary R Rajesh Kumar has sent a letter to the Bageshwar District Magistrate and directed to conduct a high level investigation of the entire matter.

In the case, the Health Secretary has issued a show cause notice to Bageshwar’s Additional Chief Medical Officer, Chief Medical Superintendent of Bageshwar District Hospital, Senior Medical Officer posted in Bageshwar Chief Medical Officer Office. In the notice issued, it has been mentioned that these three people were members of the investigation committee constituted on the matter of death of children, but many shortcomings have come to light in the investigation report, due to which a show cause notice has been issued.

On July 10, the one and a half year old son of soldier Dinesh Chandra, a resident of Chamoli Chidanga village, suddenly fell ill. His wife and mother reached Gwaldam with their son. Where the child did not get treatment in the hospital. After this, the family took the child to Baijnath (Bageshwar) hospital. From where he was referred to Bageshwar District Hospital. The family hurriedly took the child to Bageshwar District Hospital. From where they were referred to Almora, when the child’s condition didn’t stabilize they were referred to Haldwani after declaring his condition critical. After this, the family called ambulance 108, but they did not get the ambulance on time. After getting the ambulance late, the child died in the ambulance while going to Haldwani. On July 26, soldier father Dinesh released a video and shared his grief.
