Heavy rains cause damage in Tharali region

Heavy rains occurred in many districts of Uttarakhand on Wednesday, April 9, after noon. While people got relief from the heat due to rain and hailstorm, there was a big loss in Tharali of Chamoli district. A rivulet near Ramlila Maidan in Tharali was in spate after the rain. Due to this, a lot of debris came down from the hill. Many vehicles are reported to be buried in this debris. Apart from this, some roads are also blocked.

Nature’s fury was on full flow in Tharali on Wednesday wreaked havoc. A large amount of debris came from the hill near Ramlila Maidan after the rain. It is being told that many vehicles got buried in this debris. It was fortunate that no person was present in the vehicles at that time. Therefore, there was no loss of life.

Apart from Tharali, the Karnaprayag Gwaldam National Highway was also blocked which has been opened by the BRO (Border Road Organization) team. It is being told that the Tharali Dewal motorway has also been closed due to debris, which is expected to open only tomorrow on Thursday. Apart from this, the police-administration team is reaching the disaster affected areas and taking stock of the damage.
