Civil and political groups take out rally in Dehradun Demanding Justice for Ankita Bhandari

Public outrage over the high-profile Ankita Bhandari murder case in Uttarakhand has once again spilled onto the streets. A massive crowd of people is protesting against the government. Following statewide protests by the Congress party on Saturday, various public organizations and political parties marched towards the Chief Minister’s residence on Sunday, January 4. ​​A large number of women, men, and young people participated in the protest. They unanimously demanded justice for Ankita and expressed their anger over the government’s refusal to order a CBI investigation.

On Sunday morning, January 4th, members of the Congress party, Uttarakhand Kranti Dal, CPI, Unemployed Association, Uttarakhand Original Resident Land Law Struggle Committee, Nationalist Regional Party, Garhwal Sabha Women’s Forum, and various other social organizations gathered at Parade Ground in Dehradun. Hundreds of people then marched from Parade Ground in a massive rally towards the Chief Minister’s residence.

During the protest, the demonstrators chanted slogans demanding justice for Ankita Bhandari. As the protesters reached Hathi Barkala, the police stopped them with barricades. Representatives of the social organizations stated that in light of the new allegations in the Ankita case, a fresh investigation is necessary.
