Volvo bus service to start between Dehradun-Amritsar

Uttarakhand Transport Corporation is going to start super deluxe Volvo bus service from April 14 for the passengers of Dehradun who go to pay obeisance at the Golden Temple, the holy place of Sikhs in Amritsar and to see the Wagah border.
The Dehradun-Amritsar vovlo bus will reach Amritsar from Doon via Saharanpur, Ambala, Ludhiana, Jalandhar. For a long time, people of the Sikh community were demanding the state government to operate a Volvo bus service to Amritsar. Assistant General Manager (Rural Depot) of Transport Corporation Rajiv Gupta said that the bus fare will be Rs 1224 per passenger and it will take about 10 hours for a one-way journey.
Volvo service will run for Doon-Saharanpur-Ludhiana-Jalandhar-Amritsar
These two Volvo bus services are the ones which the Transport Corporation was operating from Doon to Prayagraj in January and February due to Prayagraj Maha Kumbh. Assistant General Manager Rajiv Gupta said that now both the Volvo buses will be operated for Amritsar. Earlier the Transport Corporation used to operate a simple bus service between Doon-Amritsar, but that service was stopped during the Covid outbreak period.
Dehradun-Amritsar volvo bus: Know fare, timings
The Assistant General Manager said that the Dehradun-Amritsar volvo bus will start from Monday morning. Online ticket booking of these buses has also been opened. The bus will run regularly from Doon at 10 am and reach Amritsar at 8 pm. This bus will leave from Amritsar at 5 am the next day. The fare from Doon to Jalandhar in the bus has been fixed at Rs 1224.
Only one train for Amritsar at present
There is currently only one public service from Doon to Amritsar, that is the Lahori Express train. This train runs daily from Doon at 7:30 pm and reaches Amritsar the next day at 8:35 am. This train leaves from Amritsar at 9:40 pm and reaches Doon the next day at 9:45 am. It takes 12 hours for one way travel. The train has sleeper and third AC only.
