UNESCO declares Jaipur world heritage site

It was announced after the 43rd session of UNESCO World Heritage Committee from June 30 to July 10 in Baku (Azerbaijan). In this meeting, discussions on the incorporation of the city of Jaipur in the World Heritage List were discussed. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed happiness over Jaipur being tagged as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO.
PM Modi tweeted, “Jaipur is a city associated with culture and bravery. Jaipur’s hospitality attracts people all over the world. Glad that UNESCO has marked this city as a World Heritage Site.”
A senior official told that the ICOMOS (International Council on Memorial and Site) inspected the city in 2018. After the nomination, the WHC in Baku considered this and added it to the UNESCO World Heritage Sites List. The historic city Jaipur in Rajasthan was established in the preservation of Sawai Jai Singh II. The culturally affluent state is the capital of Rajasthan.
