Haldwani: Stones pelted on team gone to remove encroachment
In Banbhulpura of Haldwani district of Uttarakhand, angry mob created a ruckus over the demolition of illegal buildings. The mob was enraged over the demolition of the buildings on government land (Nazul land). Uttarakhand DGP, Abhinav Kumar said that, ‘Around 4 pm today, a joint team of District Administration and Police was conducting anti-encroachment drive in Banbhoolpura, Haldwani as per the Court’s order. Opposing that, a few anti-social elements pelted stones and caused arson.’
Municipal corporation workers including SDM have also been reportedly injured. Stone pelting and was reported at many places. Heavy police force was present at the spot.
Stones were also pelted at Banbhulpura police station. Vehicles parked outside the police station have been burnt. Meanwhile, Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami has called High Level Meeting on Haldwani riots.
