Both the teams have won one match each and the third match to be held in Chennai on March 22 will be the final in a way.

Humiliating loss for team India

This is the biggest defeat for the Indian team in terms of ball remaining in ODIs. Australia won the match with 234 balls remaining in the innings. Earlier New Zealand did this in 2019. Then they had defeated Team India with 212 balls remaining. Apart from this, a team has achieved the target in the least number of overs against India. Earlier, New Zealand defeated India in 2019 by scoring 93 runs for two wickets in 14.4 overs in Hamilton.

Another failure in the powerplay

The top order of the Indian team, which came out to bat first, failed in this match as well. Half the team returned to the pavilion in the powerplay (initial 10 overs). Starc wreaked havoc in the very first over, getting Shubman Gill caught. He could not even open an account. Shubman got out in the same manner as he had in the previous match. Skipper Rohit Sharma was out caught trying to drive a delivery from Mitchell Starc. He then trapped Surya Kumar Yadav the very next ball with a fast inswinger. None of the batters for team India apart from Virat Kohli & Axar Patel looked comfortable against the swinging ball.

After grabbing a 5-for with the ball, it was the turn of the other Mitchell- Marsh to  make the evening from bad to worse for the hosts. Marsh hit as many as 6 sixes in a quick fire unbeaten 66 of just 36 balls to help Australia register a comfortable win. He was ably supported by Travis head who too scored an unbeaten 51 from 30 balls.
