90% less rain recorded in December in Uttarakhand

With the return of monsoon in Uttarakhand, the rain has also stopped. The situation is that for the last few months, people in the hilly districts and plains of the state have been longing to see rain. In the month of December, so far 90% less rainfall than normal has been recorded.
Increasing impact of climate change
Climate change remains a matter of debate all over the world. Although its damage has been discussed for the last several decades. But now the increasing impact of climate change all over the world is increasing concern among policy makers and common people. Due to this, many types of changes are being seen in the weather. These changes have sometimes caused floods and sometimes drought-like conditions.
However, at this time new problems are being seen regarding rain. Due to this, the impact on the environment has also increased the concern of scientists.
There was nominal rainfall in December
While there was many times more rain than normal in the monsoon, there is a drought in Uttarakhand after the monsoon has gone. Scientists are also studying this changing pattern of weather in Uttarakhand. The last month of the year i.e. December is passing almost completely dry in Uttarakhand. A few spells of rain or snowfall have been seen this month. Since then, there has been no rain and snowfall anywhere except the high Himalayan region. Due to this situation, the data of the Meteorological Department is also revealing the lack of rain.
There has been no significant rainfall in the last three months
Meteorological Department scientist Rohit Thapliyal says that this time in Uttarakhand, 90 percent less rainfall than normal has been recorded during the month of December. Not only this, there has been no significant rain in Uttarakhand in the last 3 months after the monsoon has gone.
Slight increase in temperature
The worrying thing is that there are only a few days left in the last month of the year. The weather department is saying that there is no possibility of rain or snowfall even in the coming week. On the other hand, due to the winds coming from the south and bright sunshine, there has been a slight increase in temperature in the last 48 hours. In this way, the kind of cold that was seen in the last week of December during the last few years, the temperature has not decreased to that level at the moment. At present, there has been a slight increase in the minimum and maximum temperatures.
The minimum night temperature in the state was 7.5 degrees 24 hours ago. In terms of the record of the last 10 years, the minimum temperature in December was recorded at 7.5 degrees Celsius on December 18 in the year 2017. Although light cold winds will also be felt in the coming days, but a rapid decrease in temperature can be recorded only after the rain.
Expectation of snowfall in Uttarakhand on New Year
The Meteorological Department estimates that it may rain in the beginning of the new year or in the last days of December. In this way, for the time being, there are hopes of snowfall on New Year for tourists who wish to enjoy snowfall in Uttarakhand.
There was 80 percent less rainfall in October too
The month of November was also completely dry in Uttarakhand. During this time also, no rain was recorded across the state. Not only this, before this, there was about 80 percent less rainfall in the month of October. In this way, a new problem is also being created for the farmers due to lack of rain in the state.
Temperature decreased significantly due to snowfall in the high Himalayan region
In the high areas of Gangotri, Harshil, Kedarnath and Chamoli in Uttarakhand and in the high areas of some districts in Kumaon, temperatures are being recorded from -1 degree to 10 degrees. Due to lack of rain, the environment is also getting affected at the national level. Especially in densely populated cities like Delhi, the pollution crisis is increasing.
Due to rain, the dust particles spread in the environment settle on the ground. This reduces the pollution spread in the environment. But due to lack of rain in many areas across the country, it is also affecting the environment. However, the level of pollution increases as soon as the winter season arrives. In this situation, raindrops bring the environment to a better condition. Overall, rain plays a very important role in purifying the air. Due to lack of rain, the level of pollution in the environment also increases.
