Karnataka dominates in aquatics on the first day of the 38th National Games

Karnataka swimmers put up a stellar performance on the first day of the 38th National Aquatics Games, winning five gold medals and setting a new meet record in thrilling bouts at the Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee Swimming Complex in Haldwani.
Men’s 200m Freestyle
Karnataka’s Srihari Nataraj won the gold medal with a timing of 1:50.57. His teammate Aneesh S Gowda (1:52.42) bagged the silver while Kerala’s Sajan Prakash (1:53.73) managed to bag the bronze.

Women’s 200m Freestyle
Karnataka’s rising talent Dhinidhi Desinghu set a new National Games record with a timing of 2:03.24 to bag the gold. Delhi’s Bhavya Sachdeva (2:08.68) won the silver while Maharashtra’s Aditi Satish Hegde (2:09.74) bagged the bronze.
Men’s 100m butterfly
Tamil Nadu’s Rohit won the gold in 53.89 seconds. Maharashtra’s Mihir Ambre (54.24) won the silver and Kerala’s Sajan Prakash (54.52) won the bronze.
Women’s 100m butterfly
Karnataka’s Dhinidhi Desinghu clocked 1:03.62 to win her second gold of the day. Karnataka’s Naisha Shetty (1:04.81) won the silver while Odisha’s Srishti Upadhyay (1:05.20) won the bronze.
Men’s 4x100m freestyle relay
Karnataka’s men’s team – Akash Mani, Chintan S Shetty, Anish S Gowda and Srihari Nataraj – won the gold with a new meet record of 3:26.26. Tamil Nadu (3:29.92) won the silver and Gujarat (3:32.23) won the bronze.
Women’s 4x100m Freestyle Relay
Karnataka’s women’s team – Neena Venkatesh, Shalini R Dixit, Latisha Mandana and Dhinidhi Desinghu – won the gold medal with a timing of 4:01.58. Maharashtra (4:02.17) took the silver and Tamil Nadu (4:08.81) took the bronze.
Karnataka’s swimming team made a great start by topping the medal tally on the first day. More exciting competitions are expected in the swimming competitions in the coming days.
