Param Vir Chakra winners will now get Rs 1.5 crore as ex-gratia in Uttarakhand
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami government has given a big gift to the soldiers on the eve of Kargil Vijay Diwas. The ex-gratia amount given to the Param Vir Chakra winners will now be given Rs 1.5 crore. Till now this amount was Rs 50 lakh. Apart from this, they will continue to get three lakh rupees as annual grant amount.
CM Dhami had announced to increase the ex-gratia amount given to the Param Vir Chakra winners at the Sainik Samman ceremony held in Khatima on July 25. The ceremony was organized on the occasion of the death anniversary of CM’s father late Subedar Sher Singh Dhami. The proposal of the Sainik Welfare Department has now been approved by the Chief Minister.
He said that before June 2022, the ex-gratia amount given to the Param Vir Chakra winner was Rs 30 lakh. The cabinet decided to increase this amount to 50 lakhs on 10 June 2022. After this, a government order was also issued in this regard on 14 July 2022. Now the government has increased the lump sum amount from Rs 50 lakh to Rs 1.5 crore.
CM Dhami said that ‘the borders of our country are safe due to the valor, courage and sacrifice of our brave soldiers. In such a situation, it is the duty of every citizen to respect the bravery, dedication and sacrifice of the soldiers. Uttarakhand is not only Devbhoomi but also Veerbhoomi, which has given many brave soldiers to the country. The life of a soldier and his family is an example of discipline, sacrifice and service. The state government is committed to the welfare of the soldiers and their families and is constantly taking concrete and effective decisions to protect their interests.’
