Only permanent residents of the state are eligible for solar plants, the plant can be set up on their own land as well as on leased land. Loans are being provided through cooperative banks as well as other banks for setting up the plant.

Uttarakhand CM Dhami said that, ‘the state has got the gift of sunshine from nature. There is bright sunshine here even in winter. Due to this the state is ideal for solar energy, so the government is promoting solar projects. For this, entrepreneurs are being given incentives in many ways. Along with preventing migration from the solar project, it has proved effective in increasing the economy of the villages.’
