UERC releases new, lower rates for solar and rooftop electricity
The prices of electricity produced from solar PV plants installed for commercial production and solar rooftop plants installed on the roofs of houses in Uttarakhand have fallen. The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission has given this decision in view of the reduction in the cost of solar plants. New rates for FY 2024-25 have been issued. During the hearing of the case, the bench of Chairman ML Prasad and Member Law Anurag Sharma in the Regulatory Commission found that the cost of rooftop solar power plants has decreased. The cost of plants up to 10 kW has come down from Rs 47,691 to Rs 43,063 per kW, in the 10-100 kW category from Rs 43,753 to Rs 39,507 per kW, in the 100-500 kW category from Rs 41,276 to Rs 37,271 per kW and in the 500 kW to 1 megawatt category the cost has come down from Rs 40,074 to Rs 36,185 per kW.
Similarly, the cost of commercially installed solar PV plants has also come down from Rs 3 crore 45 lakh per megawatt to Rs 3 crore 8 lakh per megawatt. Due to the reduction in cost, the commission has also reduced the price of electricity produced from them. The price of solar PV plants has come down from Rs 4.46 to Rs 4.25 per unit.
