Uttarakhand roadways to gradually resume bus services
Roadways buses, which have been closed since March 22 due to Corona in the state, will resume operations from Thursday. In the first phase, the bus will operate on 84 routes with fifty percent passenger capacity. The government has issued an order to double the fares, but the roadways management has increased the fare by 67 per cent in view of the current situation. Roadways buses will also run on hill routes along with local routes. These include Haridwar-Gangotri, Dehradun-Joshimath and Rishikesh-Uttarkashi bus service. Apart from this, buses will also be operated on local routes like Rishikesh, Mussoorie, Haridwar and Vikasnagar. Roadways Managing Director Ranveer Singh Chauhan told that buses will be run according to the number of passengers. If there are no passengers, then the bus of that route will be suspended. Apart from this, if there is a demand for passengers on any route, then a decision will be taken to operate the bus. Buses have been ordered to be repaired at all depots.
The government has issued orders to double the fare of commercial vehicles, but the roadways has decided to increase the fare by only 67 percent.
Deluxe buses will not run initially
Assessing the non-commencement of interstate operations and non-availability of passengers, the roadways management has decided not to operate deluxe buses. Initially only ordinary buses are being started, they are also on the internal routes of the state. At present, orders have been ordered to operate 37 ordinary buses in Dehradun division, 36 in Nainital and 10 ordinary buses in Tanakpur division.
