Uttarakhand weather update: Rain, wind gusts forecast for next 3 days

Uttarakhand is set to witness a significant change in weather starting today, April 18, continuing over the next three days. According to the Meteorological Center, several districts across the state may experience rain, hailstorms, and gusty winds, bringing much-needed relief from the heat, especially in the plains.

Yellow and Orange Alerts Issued

A yellow alert has been issued for April 18, warning of gusty winds with speeds of 30–40 km/h in Dehradun, Uttarkashi, Tehri, Pauri, Rudraprayag, and Chamoli districts.

On April 19, the situation could intensify. An orange alert has been issued for strong winds reaching 50–60 km/h in parts of Dehradun, Haldwani, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, and Udham Singh Nagar. According to Bikram Singh, Director of Meteorological Center Dehradun, on 19 April, the effect of Western Disturbance will be seen in the entire state.

During this time, along with rain, storm and thunderstorm activity will be seen. He said that on 19 April, the weather of rain, hailstorm, hail lightning, thunderstorm will remain at its peak. Strong winds gusts are forecast across the state through April 20 as well.

Rain, Hailstorm, and Temperature Drop Expected

Heavy rainfall and hailstorm are likely in many parts of the state between April 18 and 19. According to Bikram Singh, Director of the Meteorological Center, these conditions may lead to a noticeable drop in temperature.

This change will offer relief from rising temperatures in the plains, while residents in mountainous regions may feel a chill in the air.
