Earthquake tremors jolt Uttarkashi

Strong tremors of earthquake were felt in Uttarkashi district adjoining the China border in Uttarakhand after 12 noon on Sunday, July 24. Due to which people came in panic and came out of the houses.

Earthquake tremors were felt twice in Uttarkashi on Sunday. The first earthquake occurred at 12.37 pm, with a magnitude of 3.6. At the same time, the second tremor was felt at 12.54 hrs, which was mild.

Tremors of the earthquake were felt in Uttarkashi including district headquarters, Bhatwadi, Dunda, Gangotri, Chinyalisaur and Yamuna valley. There is no report of any damage from anywhere.

Earthquake tremors were felt in Uttarkashi in April this year. Tremors of the earthquake were felt in Purola, Mori, Naugaon and Barkot areas. These areas are adjacent to the border of Himachal.

Uttarkashi district is very sensitive to earthquake

It is noteworthy that Uttarkashi district of the state is very sensitive to earthquake. Geologically sensitive Uttarkashi is located in earthquake zone 4 and 5. On 20 October 1991, more than eight hundred people were killed in the earthquake here. Hundreds of families were left homeless. After this, the 1999 earthquake also caused damage in Uttarkashi.
