Rain wrecks havoc in Yamunotri
Heavy rains are battering Uttarakhand from the mountains to the plains. Incessant rains have caused many damages across the state. Yamunotri Dham located in Uttarkashi district has suffered a lot after heavy rains. Relief and rescue work has been started by the administration. Heavy damage has been caused due to heavy rains and torrential rains in Yamunotri Dham and Jankichatti on Thursday night.
Due to heavy rains in Yamunotri Dham, the water level of Yamuna has increased and the street lights located on the river bank have been damaged. Four shops were also submerged in the flood.
There was a scene of rain damage in Yamunotri Dham and Jankichatti area due to rain on Friday morning. The fierce form of Yamuna was seen in the six kilometer stretch between Jankichatti and Yamunotri Dham. The water level of Yamuna increased due to rain in Yamunotri Dham.
Due to the rising water level of the Yamuna river, there has been heavy erosion below the Jankichatti parking. On receiving the information of the damage, police, revenue and disaster management teams left for the spot on Friday morning. DM Dr. Meherban Singh Bisht said that officials have been sent to the spot to assess the damage caused by the rain in the area and for relief work. Instructions have been given to help the affected. A report of the damage is being prepared.
