Heavy rain alert issued for Uttarakhand

Heavy rains have been predicted in eight districts of Uttarakhand. The district administration has issued an alert since this warning of the Meteorological Department. However, there have been slight rains in some areas, which has increased the humidity further. Gangotri highway was closed due to heavy debris near Uttarkashi. About 12 hours later traffic could be restarted at five o’clock in the evening.

Bikram Singh, director of the State Meteorological Center, told that heavy rains are expected in the districts of Dehradun, Tehri, Haridwar, Pauri, Nainital, Champawat, Pithoragarh and Udham Singh Nagar since Sunday night. He said that monsoon has been active in entire Uttarakhand.

On Sunday evening, the weather suddenly changed and there was heavy rains in many areas with torrential rains in Mussoorie and there was light showers. At the same time, Gangotri Highway was closed for 12 hours in Uttarkashi. The local people and the passengers had to face severe problems. At the same time, the Highway being repeatedly closed in the Badethi has promopted District Collector Dr Ashish Chauhan to seek the report from the District Disaster Management.

The company that is in charge of the  all weather road on nearby Gangotri highway in Chungi Badethi is constructing an unplanned manner. Which is causing trouble for local people and travelers. In Chungi-Badethi, there is a constant threat of landslide. As well as stones are also falling from the hill.

There was heavy landslide on the highway on Sunday morning. Due to traffic disruption on the highway, the administration operated small vehicles from Joshiyara Manera. But large vehicles had to travel a further 10 kilometers. Apart from this, local people and passengers suffered severe problems in addition to the drivers. On the same day, the District Collector Dr. Ashish Chauhan took serious note of the closure of the highway, and directed  investigation orders.
