Uttarakhand Corona Update: 1192 cases found on 17 September

On Thursday, 1192 new cases of corona were reported in the state. Of these, 533 were cured, while 13 patients with corona infection died. The maximum number of 430 cases came from Dehradun, 203 from Nainital while 149 cases were reported from Haridwar. Besides, 117 in Udham Singh Nagar, 67 in Chamoli, 52 in Pauri, 39 in Uttarkashi, 30 in Almora, 19 in Tehri, 15 in Rudraprayag, 13 in Bageshwar, while 9 cases were reported from Champawat. At the same time, the total number of positive infections in the state has reached 37139, while 24810 have become healthy. At the same time, 460 patients admitted to various hospitals have died.

Earlier on Wednesday, corona has been confirmed in 1540 patients in the state. The worrying aspect is that till the end of August, the number of active cases in the state was 5887, which has now doubled to 11062. In the first five and a half months, 19827 cases of corona were reported in the state. In the last 16 days, 16120 people have been infected. Not only this, the positivity rate has also been close to ten percent during this period. So far, a total of 35947 people have been infected in the state. Of these, 67.54 percent i.e. 24277 people have recovered. While 155 patients have gone out of state. With the death of 13 Corona patients on Wednesday, the death toll has reached 453.

Over 2000 candidates give IGNOU Exams

The undergraduate and postgraduate final year-semester examinations of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) have also started. On the first day on Thursday, about 2170 candidates reached the 16 examination centers across the state to take the exam. While 1449 remained absent.

Dr. Jagdamba Prasad, Assistant Regional Director, IGNOU Regional Center Dehradun, said that the examination was conducted peacefully in all the centers in two shifts. 31 candidates were present and 30 were absent in both shifts at Haldwani center. Two attendees were absent from Rudrapur center, 12 were present at Almora center, four were absent and 42 were present and 59 were absent from DAV PG College Dehradun center. It was informed that Covid-19 guidelines are being followed in all examination centers. The examinations will run till 16 October. The candidates who are not able to appear in these examinations for any reason, will be able to appear in the Term End Examination of December with this fee. They will not have to deposit the fee again.
