Uttarakhand Government gives nod to develop 13 new tourist destinations

The Trivendra Rawat government has been instrumental in taking forward the campaign to find new tourist destinations in Uttarakhand. Shanghai-based New Development Bank has agreed to provide financial assistance of Rs 1,200 crore to Uttarakhand for the project. The central government has also cleared the state proposal for loans. The state government has drawn up the ’13 district-13 destination ‘scheme to develop new tourist spots beyond the existing tourist destinations of Uttarakhand. Under this, one new tourist destination is to be developed in each district. This entire project is also going to cost a lot. The Uttarakhand government will soon enter into a formal agreement on this if the Shanghai-based New Development Bank agrees for the loan. After this, the ground work will be started on the entire project. 13 new sites have already been selected at all places.

Information and Civil Aviation Secretary Dilip Javalkar, who arrived at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly elected executive of Uttaranchal Press Club in Doon on Wednesday, said that the helicopter service between Chinyalisaur and Gauchar from Dehradun is expected to start this month. Necessary facilities are being finalized at both the runways.

Thoughts on the airstrip at Srinagar-Pabo

Secretary Javalkar also informed that the government has also received proposals to develop new airstrip at Chaukhutia, Srinagar, Pabo. These are under consideration. He said that work is underway on several options for expansion of Pantnagar Airport. Since there is not much scope for expansion of the runway here, all proposals received are being considered.

Budgeting is necessary to develop new tourist destinations. In view of the geographical location of Uttarakhand, emphasis is being laid on the development of new airstrips. This will improve air connectivity and benefit from it in the form of tourism.
