Notice issued to 95 Municipal election candidates for failing to provide expense statement
There are 95 candidates who are contesting in the upcoming municipal elections who have not deposited the details of election expenses. The Returning Officer has issued a notice to such candidates and sought the response. Details of expenditure of candidates will now be scrutinized on November 5. Even after this, action will be taken against the candidates who do not provide information as per the rules.
Mayor candidates in the body election or the councilor will have to make the details of their daily election expenditure accountable to the accounting team. Candidates had to give details of expenses incurred from enrollment till date to the accounting team on Tuesday.
Of the 415 candidates for the post of councilor, there were 95 candidates who did not give any information to the accounting team. It includes candidate from BJP, Congress, the other parties along with the independents candidates. Now returning officers have issued notice to the candidates who have failed to provide thier expense statements on time and have summoned them.
District Election Officer and District Magistrate S A Murugesan has appealed to all the candidates to submit their election expenses expenditure to the accounting team from time to time. He said that the candidates who did not submit the expenditure details at the first time of asking, should provid the full details of election expenses on November 5.
Watch over rigging election expenses
Even after determining the rates of various commodities for the election by the Election Commission, the candidates are manipulating it and showing very little expenditure from the fixed rate in their election expenses. Now the accounting team will summon the candidates who will be able to rig the election expenditure. For this, it is preparing to send notices to all the candidates.
The elections for various posts in Nagar Nigam and Nagar Palika across Uttarakhand will take place on November 18, 2018.
