72 crore earned from liquor vendor auction in Pithoragarh and Champawat

The state government auctioned liquor vends in Pithoragarh and Champawat districts today, generating a revenue of over Rs 72 crore.
The district administration of Pithoragarh, in a press release, said a revenue of Rs 39,94,32,847 was generated from nine vends of country liquor, 14 of foreign liquor and one beer shop at the auction. It is 20 per cent more than the revenue earned last year, the administration claims. As many as 10,288 applications, including 224 from women, were received by the district administration.
According to information received from Champawat district, a sum of around Rs 33 crore was generated from the auction of 16 liquor shops, including nine country liquor vends and seven foreign liquor shops. Besides, a new liquor shop was opened in Bhingrara village of the district, said sources.
