A medium intensity earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale hit Uttarakhand late on Thursday night.
According to National Centre for Seismology, the epicenter of the quake was Pithoragarh in the state and it struck around 11.30 pm at the depth of 15 km. There were no immediate report of any casualty.
People rushed out of their houses and spent the night under the open sky. Officials told IANS that the tremors were felt for about ten seconds and that the intensity of the earthquake measuring 4.1 on the Richter scale.
