Mercury reaches minus in Pithoragarh; snowfall continues in higher regions

There was a sudden change in the weather in the border district Pithoragarh on Tuesday, the mercury dropped to minus without any rain. Even after the sun was shining, cold winds in the region brought down the temperatures even further. There was snowfall on the higher peaks of the district and in tehsil headquarters Munsiyari, snowflakes started falling without rain.

The district headquarters remained cloudy for some time in the morning. The day was sunny, but along with the sunshine, cold winds kept blowing throughout the day. Due to strong winds, there was no feeling of heat even in the sun. The cold winds became stronger in the afternoon.

Temperature reached minus

Despite being cloudy, there was no rain, due to direct snowfall the temperature dropped to minus during the day. The night temperature in Munsiyari has started reaching minus four degrees. Heavy snowfall occurred in Panchachuli, Rajrambha and other high altitude peaks.
