Train services resume in Dehradun

After a long wait of three months, train services resumed at the Dehradun railway station on Saturday morning. The first train- Nanda Devi Express arrived at theĀ  Doon station in the morning after a long running shutdown. Booking at Doon railway station has been completed since the first day. Waiting list was over 50 in sleeper class and 20 in AC coaches the first day.

For the upgradation of Dehradun station, the operation of trains from Dehradun was stalled from November 10 to February 7. Meanwhile some trains operated from Haridwar, Najibabad and Aligarh stations. After the expansion and re-modeling work of Dehradun railway station, it is ready for renewed train operations. After receiving the news that the trains started operating, people were seen reserving their tickets at the reservation office. Station Director Ganesh Chand told that during the shutdown two new platforms were constructed along with electrification of all the lines. Also, public facilities were extended. He told that from Saturday, the movement of trains started from Dehradun. The first Nanda Devi Express arrived from New Delhi at 4.30 am.

The first train arrived at platform number two on Saturday morning. For this, platform number two has been prepared. Station Superintendent SP Doval said that other arrangements were completed on this platform from cleanliness. Earlier it was platform number three.

These trains started operating

From Saturday, Nanda Devi Express, Howrah Express, Lahori Express, Dehradun-Saharanpur Passenger, Mussoorie Express, Shatabdi Express, Naini-Dehradun Janshatabdi Express have begun opertaions from Doon station.

UTS machine installed

A UTS machine has been installed at the main gate premises of the railway station to book tickets online. Through this, the unreserved ticket to the General Class can be taken. Also, the facility of taking platform tickets will also be available from the machine.
