Liz Truss to be new Prime Minister of UK

Britain’s ruling Conservative Party, after a two-month-long process, today i.e. on Monday, in the lower house of parliament – the House of Commons, has decided its leader and the country’s next prime minister. In this race for the post of PM, only two faces were left till the end – former Finance Minister Rishi Sunak and current Foreign Minister Liz Truss. In the election between the two leaders, former finance minister Rishi Sunak got 60399 votes while his rival Liz Truss got 81326 votes.

The leader of the Conservative Party’s electoral committee announced Liz Truss as their first choice. She will be the next prime minister of Britain. He defeated Rishi Sunak in the race for the post of PM. Truss will be the fourth PM of UK in six years. Earlier, David Cameron, Theresa May, Boris Johnson have held the post of PM in different intervals from 2016 to 2022.

Truss is currently Britain’s foreign minister. She studied in a government school, 47-year-old Truss’s father was a mathematics professor and mother a nurse. Coming from a pro-Labor family, Truss studied philosophy, politics and economics from Oxford.

After completing her studies, she also worked as an accountant for some time. After that she got into politics. She won the first election as a councillor. The family was a supporter of the Labor Party, but Truss liked the ideology of the Conservative Party.
