Pushkar Dhami takes oath as Uttarakhand CM; 8 cabinet ministers too take oath

Pushkar Singh Dhami took oath as the 12th Chief Minister of Uttarakhand at the Parade Ground in Dehradun today. Along with this, eight cabinet ministers also took oath. Among them, Satpal Maharaj, Premchand Agarwal, Ganesh Joshi, Dhan Singh Rawat, Subodh Uniyal, Rekha Arya, Chandan Ramdas, Saurabh Bahuguna took oath. During this, many VIPs including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah and Defense Minister Rajnath Singh were present.

Pushkar Singh Dhami took oath as the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand for the second time on Wednesday. Along with CM Dhami, eight ministers were also sworn in by the governor. The new cabinet has a mix of old and new faces. In this, five ministers of Dhami’s old cabinet have got a place again. At the same time, Premchandra Agrawal, who was the Speaker of the previous assembly, has also been included in the Dhami cabinet. Saurabh Bahuguna and Chandan Ram Das have also been included in this cabinet as new faces.

The last time Dhami took oath, 11 MLAs were made ministers with him. Two of these 11 ministers Harak Singh Rawat and Yashpal Arya left the party and went to Congress. Arya had joined the Congress in October last year itself, while Harak Singh Rawat left the BJP and went to the Congress during the elections. Out of the remaining nine ministers, Swami Yatiswaranand lost the Haridwar Rural seat to Anupama Rawat, daughter of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat.

Out of the remaining eight ministers, five have got a place this time also. These include Rekha Arya, Subodh Uniyal, Ganesh Joshi, Satpal Maharaj and Dhan Singh Rawat. At the same time, three ministers Arvind Pandey, Bishan Singh Chufal and Banshidhar Bhagat did not find a place in the new cabinet. In their place, three new faces will be part of the cabinet.

Which new faces took oath?

CM Dhami’s new cabinet has got three new faces. Among them, Premchand Agrawal, who was the Speaker of the previous assembly, is now a cabinet minister. At the same time, Saurabh Bahuguna, son of former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna, has also got a place in Dhami’s cabinet. Bahuguna and Rekha Arya  are the youngest faces of the new cabinet. Saurabh has become MLA for the second consecutive time by winning from Sitarganj. Saurabh’s grandfather Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna has been the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh while his father Vijay Bahuguna has been the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand when Congress was in power. Chandan Ram Das, who won from Bageshwar, has also got a place in the cabinet. Das has become MLA for the fourth time in a row.
