Portals of Badrinath opened for summer season 2021

The doors of Badrinath Dham located in Chamoli district have been opened on Tuesday at 4.15 am amidst vedic chanting and srituals. The traditional beliefs and customs of opening the doors of the temple are also special.

According to beliefs and traditional customs, the Dharmadhikari and Vedpathis start worship by duly invoking Lord Shri Ganesha and Lord Shri Badri Vishal in the premises at the main gate of the Badrinath Temple before the doors are opened. The keys with which the door locks are opened are first worshiped. The first lock is opened by chief priest as the representative of the Tehri Maharaja.

The doors of Badrinath Dham were opened on Tuesday at 4.15 am at Brahmamuhurta. In view of the corona infection, only priests, administrative officers, people involved in construction and decoration works were allowed in the temple town. The first prayer and mahabhishek was performed on behalf of PM Narendra Modi at Badrinath.

At the same time, CM Tirath Singh Rawat also wished the devotees of the country and abroad on the occasion of opening the doors of Badrinath. He prayed that soon the world could be free from the corona pandemic. He said that Char Dham Yatra has been postponed due to Corona outbreak. “In such a situation, I pray to everyone that people should worship at home.”
