Former Pak PM Nawaz Sharif and daughter Maryam arrested in Pakistan
On Friday, a week after being convicted in a corruption case, Pakistan’s former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif returned home with his daughter Maryam to face arrest. Nawaz Sharif, who arrived from Abu Dhabi to Lahore, was arrested at the airport itself. After reaching the airport, passports of Nawaz and Maryam were taken during immigration checks. After that both of them were arrested. According to reports, Nawaz Sharif was not ready to sit in the car to go to the terminal, he was taken to the terminal on foot. Nawaz was placed in special aircraft in the circle of ASF commandos.
The plane carrying Sharif and Maryam arrived at the Allama Iqbal Airport in Lahore at around 9.30 pm local time. The aircraft was about three hours late from its scheduled time. Etihad Airways’s flight EY243 arrived here from Abu Dhabi. Before coming here, Sharif and his daughter had arrived from London to Abu Dhabi, the capital of the United Arab Emirates. Sharif’s wife is admitted to the hospital in London.
Nawaz Sharif talked to the media before the arrival in Pakistan from Abu Dhabi. The news is that the officers of the National Accountability Bureau will also be traveling on the plane which will take Nawaz Sharif and Maryam to Lahore. On the way Nawaz Sharif told reporters on the plane that he is going to jail but he is giving the sacrifice for the people of Pakistan.
