Cold wave grips Uttarakhand

The Meteorological Department has issued a fog alert in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar today. Also cold wave can prevail in the plains. Partial cloud covered occured in the second half of the day in Dehradun. According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there sunny morning today in Doon. But soon at around 2 P.M the weather started changing to cloudy. Due to which cold has increased considerably.

The morning began with thick fog in the plains including the capital on Tuesday. The temperature in the capital remained ten degrees till ten in the morning. Although there was some relief from the cold due to sunny blooms in Doon, but fog continued to be a problem in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar.

The maximum temperature of the day in the capital was 21.7 degrees while the minimum night temperature was recorded at 8.4 degrees. Meteorological Director Bikram Singh said that on Wednesday, a thick fog alert has been issued in Haridwar and Udham Singh Nagar. With this, cold wave will also grip the state. However, Partial clouds may occur in Dehradun. The Meteorological Department has not forecast any rain or snowfall anywhere.

Polyhouse broken due to snowfall, crop wasted

In Gopeshwar, due to heavy snowfall in the district, many people have suffered heavy losses. Farmers’ polyhouses have broken down, affecting their livelihood completely. While the recent rains and snowfall have greatly benefited the seasonal crop, farmers with poly houses have suffered.

Herb Research Institute’s plant also suffered damage

The nursery of the Herbal Research Institute at Mandal has suffered heavy losses due to rain and snowfall. Medicinal plants are prepared in the nursery of the institute, this time the snowfall has caused a lot of damage to the plants being prepared.

Life disrupted in Uttarkashi due to snowfall

Due to heavy rains and snowfall on the previous day, the life in the district has become very busy, since two days the weather has started returning to the track. However, due to the lack of proper arrangements of traffic, electricity, drinking water etc. in about two dozen villages the villagers are facing difficulties.

According to the disaster management department report, traffic has not been restored on the Jaspur-Purali, Payara-Jhala, Harshil-Mukhba, Kamad-Ayarkhal, Kuvan-Kafnaul and Kunsala-Kupra motorways. The Gangotri Highway from Bhaironghati to Gangotri is snow-capped.
