“Met with FM Arun Jaitley before going out of India” claims Vijay Mallya

Liquor baron Vijay Mallya, who is absconding with crores of rupees loan from India’s banks, gave a big statement on Wednesday, outside a London court that he had met Finance Minister Arun Jaitley before leaving the country. Mallya said that he wanted to resolve the matter with them but due to objections of the banks the matter could not be settled.

Vijay Mallya told the media outside the court that “I have been made a political football by two big political parties and later I was made a scapegoat”. He told  that he was out of the country because of attending a meeting in Geneva.
Although Mallya later said that he had not formally met Jaitley, the media created controversy over his statement. Mallya came out of court and said that he was just telling how he left India. After the hearing, the court has fixed December 10 for the decision on Mallya.

Jaitley clears air on meeting

Finance Minister Arun Jaitley, while giving clarification to India Today on his meeting with Mallya, said that “he did not give time to meet Mallya. Although he had offered to resolve the matter by talking to me in Parliament premises. Mallya misused the privilege of being a Member of Parliament. Jaitley said that I rejected his offer and said that there can be no talk about this and I did not take any documents related to the case that he had brought along with him.”
